Doug-update on  Music Financial Report
PTC’s guiding principles
Music - Doug presented the budget for Emy Phelps.  The PTC approved  up to  $4500 to cover her enrichment fund for the 2009-2010 school year.
Financial report update.  Report is posted on Parent Corner bulletin, which includes current account balance, account activity and income.  Help is needed to sell Scrip on Monday and Thursday afternoons.  Lauren Fennell has organized and ran Scrip for three years and is ready to train someone who would like to take it over.  The set up is done and would be  quick to learn; an easy way to be involved and help out at the school.
Guiding Principles.  Pauline gave a brief overview about the Foundational Tenets and the Mission Statement for the PTC.  There are copies in the Parent Corner and also on the The John Muir School PTC website:http://www.thejohnmuirschool.com.  Everyone agreed it should be a part of the Parent Handbook next year.  This document will be used by all the committees this year to help put in place the actions that go with the tenets.
Project updates. Committees are off to a slow start due to many families out sick.  Some committees will meet this evening.  Parents who have signed up should have been contacted by now.  If not, please contact Patti Ruiz #482-2726.  Plenty of time to still jump on board!
Fundraising. Jen Damon Tollenaere and Katherine Holden are the committee chairs.  The first meeting will be on Monday Oct. 19th @ 3:00pm.  Please join the 1st meeting to share ideas!   Or if you can’t come, send input with a friend or write them down. Everyone agreed it will be our annual Sock Hop theme.
Halloween Carnival. Marcia’s class will be hosting the Halloween Carnival again this year!  They will have lots of games and a haunted house!  Everyone is welcome.  We need materials to help the class make it happen;  bean bags, smoke machine, black sheets, and re-fridge boxes to name a few.  Anything goulish you think might work.
We need some parent help on the day of the carnival.  Maribeth Beaudoin is coordinating the volunteers. #482-5726.  There will also be a sign up sheet in the lobby.  Help is needed between 11-3 , and the party is 12-2 on Friday, Oct.30th.

ART WEEK*************Calling All Parents***********************
John Muir has traditionally opened up Art Week to parents to join in on a project to share with a group of children.  This year Art Week is on Oct. 27th, 28th, and 29th (3 days)
8:30-10:30.  Some projects happening this year are illuminaries, stick horses, shadow box art, painting, dances, knitting, music.  Please contact your teacher if you have an idea and would like to join in.  You can share your projects and time slots with other projects.  It is a great community event and a nice way to get involved.
Earth Teach A couple parents are needed to help with shopping for food for the overnight trips during the school year.  If this fits a time slot for you to help volunteer please contact Marcia for details.  Thanks!
Earth Teach wants to buy a  rocket box for solid waste for the 60 kids who head up to Earth Teach every week.  Paul offered to look into it.
Marcia and Paul have used this system  before and educated the PTC all about it.
John Muir PTC website. Steve Rice announced not very many parents are signed up with the web site.  This is a great way to keep informed on current events with the school.
http://www.thejohnmuirschool.com.  Signing up is very simple!
Parking Etiquette. It was noted several cars drop off /pick up their kids using both lanes in front of the school.  Please use the curbside to open doors and leave the left lane open for cars to pass.
The next PTC meeting will be on the third Tue. due to a scheduling conflict.
